Does this adapter go straight across, or is there some kind of angle to it?

Straight through, no angle. Both ends are in-line, so it threads right onto your JIC fitting on one side and the DIN 2353 L08 male tube connection on the other without any change in direction. The overall length runs 32.7mm, which is pretty compact for tight hydraulic connections runs.
