got a 3 inch line with female NPT threads. is this the right camlock half for that, and what’s it made out of?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 9, 2026, 5:35 PM
For a 3 inch female NPT threaded connection, this is the female half cam and groove coupler in that size. The body is 316 stainless steel, and the cam levers, pins, rings, and safety clips are stainless steel as well, with a Buna-N seal.
Question by: Ray M on Sep 24, 2025, 6:12 PM
Safety clip on this thing, does it actually lock the coupler in place, or is it more of a backup in case the cam levers slip?
Answer by: Customer Support on Sep 26, 2025, 6:54 AM
The cam levers do the main work of securing the connection. Once you press them down over the adapter, the joint holds. The safety clip is there as a secondary measure to prevent accidental uncoupling, so if a lever gets bumped or catches on something, it won't back out on you. There are also cast-in lugs on the coupler body that let you run a safety pin through once the connection is made. That pin physically blocks the coupler from being opened until you pull it out by hand. So you've got two layers of protection working together.
