Can this plug be used on a compressed air line, or is it strictly for liquid service?

Liquid service only on this one. Cam and groove couplings in this product line are not rated for compressed air or steam under any circumstances. Stick to liquid applications and you'll be fine.

got a 2 inch camlock setup already. is this dust plug gonna interchange with other brands or am i asking for trouble

Built to the A-A-59326 standard, it will interchange with other cam and groove products made to that same standard, and it also notes interchangeability with DIN 2828. Since it is a 2 inch size, it falls in the range that has a standard and is expected to interchange.
