got a hose end with a 7/8-14 JIC flare on it. will this adapter let me tie that into a 1/2-14 female NPT port?

Use it as a transition from pipe thread to flare. One side is 1/2-14 female NPT and the other side is a 7/8-14 male JIC 37 degree flare, so it bridges a female NPT port to a JIC flare connection.
