got a -20 hose line running off a hydraulic pump and need a straight JIC swivel on the end, this the right fitting for that?

does this fitting need any kind of thread sealant when you put it together, or does it seal up on its own?

No sealant needed. The 37-degree flare seating surface on the JIC connection creates the seal itself, metal to metal. Aeroquip built this one so you don't have to mess with tape or paste during assembly, which keeps things cleaner and cuts down on one more variable that could cause problems down the road.
