got a piece of equipment here with a BSPP port and everything else on the system runs NPT. this the right adapter to bridge that gap?

That's what this one's for. One end is 1/4-19 male BSPP, the other is 1/4-18 male NPT, so it connects those two thread standards directly without needing any intermediate fittings.
