Manufactured from steel and conforming to SAE 37° flare standards, this fitting is designed for use in hydraulic, instrumentation, and chemical processing systems where a reliable male JIC hex plug connection is required. The Steel Adapter, 7/16-20 Male JIC 37 Deg Flare Hex Plug carries a 7/16-20 thread specification with a 0.25-inch tube O.D. and is rated for a minimum working temperature of -40°F, making it suitable for demanding thermal conditions. Supplied by Danfoss Power Solutions (Aeroquip), it is cataloged under number C1CB21 and classified under UNSPSC code 40183100. No thread sealant is required for this fitting.

got a 1/4 inch tube line, is this the right plug for a 37 degree JIC flare port?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 17, 2026, 6:49 AM
For a 1/4 inch tube size JIC 37 degree flare connection, this plug matches that setup. It’s a steel 37 degree flare hex plug with 7/16-20 thread and a 0.25 inch tube O.D. callout, so the sizing lines up for that common 1/4 tube JIC flare.
Question by: Phil B on Oct 29, 2025, 2:01 PM
what exactly does this plug do in a hydraulic line, like is it just blocking off a port or something more to it?
Answer by: Customer Support on Oct 30, 2025, 2:35 PM
Blocking off an unused JIC port is exactly what this fitting handles. The 37 degree flare seating surface creates a metal-to-metal seal when torqued down, so fluid can't push past it even under working pressure. You'd use it anywhere you need to cap a live hydraulic circuit, close off an instrumentation tap that isn't in use, or seal a port during testing or reconfiguration. The male JIC thread is 7/16-20, which is the standard for -4 JIC fittings in most hydraulic and instrumentation hydraulic connections.

got a port with 7/16-20 JIC on it, is this the right plug to cap it off?
Answer by: Customer Support on Nov 5, 2025, 10:40 AM
For capping a 7/16-20 male JIC 37 degree flare connection, this part matches that thread and flare style. It is a straight 37 degree flare hex plug in the Eaton Aeroquip 900599 series.
