Does this adapter need any thread sealant when you're putting it together, or is it good to go as-is?

No sealant needed on this one. The JIC 37-degree flare on one end and the M24 x 1.5 male metric on the other both rely on mechanical sealing at the connection points, so adding thread sealant would actually work against you.
