what industries is this plug rated for, and will the o-ring seal hold up in chemical or food processing lines?

So this is just a plug, right? No threads on the outside?

That's correct. This Eaton Aeroquip adapter is a straight thread O-ring boss plug, so it has threads on the inside and a hex shape on the outside for tightening. It's designed to seal an O-ring boss port.
