adapter goes from the bigger ORB port down to a JIC fitting, that right? trying to figure out if this'll work for a return line i'm hydraulic connections up

That's exactly what it does. One end is a 1-1/16-12 male SAE O-Ring Boss and the other is a 7/16-20 male JIC 37 degree flare. The ORB side threads into a female ORB port, and the JIC side connects to a standard female JIC swivel or fitting. It runs straight through with no angle, so keep that in mind when you're figuring out your line routing.
