got a port on my hydraulic manifold that's threaded 1-1/16-12 and I need to tie into some 1/2 NPT pipe on the other end -- will this adapter bridge that gap straight through without any extra fittings in between?

That's exactly what this piece does. One end is 1-1/16-12 Male SAE O-Ring Boss and the other is 1/2-14 Male NPT, so you're going straight from that manifold port to your NPT pipe run in a single fitting. No intermediate adapters needed for that transition.
