fitting says reduced bore - does that mean the inside diameter is smaller than a standard -16 fitting, or is that just how they label it?

Reduced bore means the internal flow path is narrower than a full-bore -16 fitting. The hose end is still sized for a -16 hose, so it connects correctly, but the bore through the fitting body itself is stepped down. That tradeoff lets the fitting work in tighter envelope spaces without changing your hose size. If flow restriction is a concern for your application, that's worth factoring in before you commit to it.

got a -16 hose on the machine, will this elbow fitting actually match up without any funny business?

It’s built for a -16 hose and uses a 1-5/16-12 Female JIC 37 degree flare swivel end. It’s also a 45 degree elbow, so it’s meant to turn the line while keeping that JIC 37 flare connection style.
