fitting says no thread sealant needed - is that right for a JIC 37 degree flare connection like this?

JIC 37 degree flare connections seal on the metal-to-metal contact between the flare faces, so thread sealant would actually work against you here. The 7/16-20 swivel end on this fitting is no different. Tape or paste on that thread can prevent the flare from seating flush and cause leaks rather than prevent them. Leave it dry and torque it properly and you'll get a solid seal.

trying to swap out a fitting on a -04 teflon hose. is this one the 7/16-20 female JIC swivel with a 45 elbow?
