Product Questions & Answers (3)
Question by: Roy G on Sep 12, 2025, 7:42 AM
What kind of pressures can this seal handle, like if I'm pushing it pretty hard?
Answer by: Customer Support on Sep 13, 2025, 1:59 PM
This seal is rated to handle pressures up to 5,000 PSI, so it should hold up well even in demanding hydraulic systems.
Question by: Kirk A on Sep 9, 2025, 5:59 PM
Trying to figure out if this seal can hold up in a system running close to 5,000 PSI pretty regular. We push it hard and can't afford a seal failing mid-cycle.
Answer by: Customer Support on Sep 11, 2025, 10:18 AM
At 5,000 PSI, you're right at the top of what this seal is rated for, so it can technically handle that pressure. The 15% glass-filled PTFE construction gives it more structural strength than standard PTFE, and the rubber energizer keeps consistent sealing force across the pressure range. That said, if your system is hitting 5,000 PSI as a sustained normal condition rather than occasional peaks, make sure your cylinder bore and piston dimensions line up tight with the specs. Bore diameter is 1.75 inches with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.002, and piston diameter should be 1.747 inches within plus or minus 0.001. Sloppy fits at high pressure will wear the seal faster regardless of material.
Question by: Phil W on Jan 11, 2026, 6:35 PM
trying to swap out a piston seal, are these the right numbers for a 1.75 bore and 1.358 groove dia?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 13, 2026, 6:29 AM
The key dimensions on this Style 1400 seal are a 1.75 inch bore and a 1.358 inch groove diameter, with a matching piston diameter callout of 1.747 inch. It is built as a 15% glass-filled PTFE seal with a rubber energizer, and the listed tolerances are ±0.002 inch on bore and ±0.001 inch on piston diameter.
