Constructed from 15% glass-filled PTFE with a rubber energizer, the Style 1600 Glass-Filled PTFE Piston Seal is designed for reliable performance across a pressure range of 0 to 5,000 PSI and a temperature range of -40°F to 220°F. The glass-filled PTFE compound provides improved wear resistance and dimensional stability compared to unfilled PTFE, making it well suited for demanding hydraulic cylinder applications.
This seal is sized for a 2.50 inch bore, with a groove diameter of 2.223 inches and a piston diameter of 2.499 inches. The compact cross section of 0.055 inches and seal height of 0.12 inches suit tight groove configurations. Bore tolerance is held to ±0.001 inch, and groove width tolerance is +0.003 / -0 inch. Piston diameter dimensions are specified for pistons without wear rings. Manufactured by Hercules Sealing Products under catalog number C1DH65.

Question by: Cody C on Aug 5, 2025, 3:31 PM
got a 2.50 bore cylinder. are these dimensions meant to fit a 2.223 groove dia and 2.499 piston or am i mixing stuff up
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 6, 2025, 3:58 PM
Fit comes down to three numbers on this seal: 2.50 inch bore, 2.223 inch groove diameter, and a 2.499 inch piston diameter. Bore tolerance is ±0.001 inch, and the piston diameter tolerance is +0 / -0.003 inch. One note to watch is the piston diameter dimension is given for pistons without wear rings.
Question by: Scott W on Sep 14, 2025, 10:55 AM
So, I got a cylinder with a 2.5 inch bore. Will this seal fit right in there?
Answer by: Customer Support on Sep 16, 2025, 6:12 AM
This Style 1600 piston seal is made specifically for cylinders with a 2.5 inch bore diameter. It's designed with tolerances to fit snugly, the bore tolerance is held to plus or minus 0.001 inch.
Question by: Freddie W on Nov 12, 2025, 6:13 AM
seal's rated up to 5,000 PSI -- that cover most standard hydraulic cylinder work or is that on the lower end for heavy equipment?
Answer by: Customer Support on Nov 13, 2025, 7:57 PM
For the majority of hydraulic cylinder applications, 5,000 PSI is more than adequate. Most industrial and mobile hydraulic systems run well below that ceiling, so this seal handles standard cylinder work without issue. The 15% glass-filled PTFE compound also gives it better wear resistance and dimensional stability than plain PTFE, which matters more in day-to-day duty than the pressure ceiling does for most folks.
