The STAUFF SUS Series Suction Strainer is designed for robust performance with 1-1/4 NPT port size and a 120.0 mesh. This strainer is capable of handling up to 16.90 GPM making it ideal for protecting hydraulic pumps from larger solid contaminants. The glass fiber reinforced polyamide head ensures long-lasting durability.

With a diameter of 3.40 inches and a length of 5.50 inches this strainer is perfect for submerged applications. It features a cleanable pleated stainless steel wire screen epoxy-bonded to the head which is standard at 100 mesh (150 microns).

This suction strainer is typically mounted horizontally ensuring that the top of the strainer remains at least 3 inches below the lowest oil level to prevent cavitation. Suitable for various industrial applications itrsquo;s built to be reliable and efficient.

strainer says up to 16.9 GPM, is that a hard cutoff or just a recommended max?

Rated flow on suction strainers like this one is the recommended operating ceiling, not a point where it immediately fails. Running consistently at or near that limit puts more demand on the screen and can starve the pump if the element starts loading up with debris. For a hydraulic pump pulling right around that range, this strainer fits fine. If your system regularly peaks above 16.9 GPM, stepping up to a higher-rated unit would be the smarter call.
