That 12,272 lb figure is the rated load for this cylinder at its 2500 PSI working pressure. Keep in mind the product notes recommend a minimum safety factor of 2 when calculating your actual maximum pushing load, so your real-world application load should stay well under that number. Long stroke cylinders like this one also carry lower full extension ratings due to column loading concerns, meaning the rod can be more prone to buckling when fully extended under heavy load. Size your application accordingly and you should be in good shape.
