Tie Rod Hydraulic Cylinder, 2.00 Inch Bore, 1.13 Inch Rod Diameter, 8.00 Inch Stroke, 3/8 NPT Ports

Description & Features

The Tie Rod Hydraulic Cylinder 2.00 Inch Bore 1.13 Inch Rod Diameter 8.00 Inch Stroke 3/8 NPT Ports features a maximum operating pressure of 2500 PSI ensuring reliable performance in demanding industrial environments. Crafted with 1045 cast steel clevises and a 65-45-12 ductile iron cast head the cylinder provides exceptional durability.

This hydraulic cylinder is fitted with a ductile iron piston and heavy-duty Grade 8 piston nut torqued to precise specifications. The double-acting piston seal allows for single-acting capabilities complemented by a double lip U-cup seal on the rod.

Induction hardened chrome-plated rods undergo rigorous ASTM B117-02 procedure salt spray tests maintaining integrity under harsh conditions. Molded ribs prevent pressure trapping and instill stability in the seal protecting against exterior contamination and moisture ingress.

Long stroke applications note: lower full extension ratings are present to prevent excessive column loading. Maximum pushing load is suggested with a minimum safety factor of 2.

rod's chrome plating on these -- how well does it hold up if it's gettin exposed to moisture regular like on outdoor equipment?
Answer by: Customer Support on Apr 22, 2025, 7:09 AM
Pretty solid, actually. The rods are induction hardened and chrome plated, and they go through a minimum 90-hour salt spray test following the ASTM B117-02 procedure before leaving the factory. On top of that, the wiper seals are a snap-in design built specifically to keep moisture and outside contaminants from getting in past the rod. The molded ribs on those seals add extra stability and help prevent pressure from getting trapped at the seal face. For regular outdoor exposure, that combination holds up well.

got a cylinder that takes 3/8 npt hoses, is this one set up that way on the ports?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 23, 2026, 10:11 AM
Porting is 3/8 NPT. The blind end is double ported, and the rod end has one port that is inline with the pin.

Reckon this cylinder would be alright for buildin' a log splitter? Gotta be tough enough, y'know.
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 2, 2026, 6:59 AM
For log splitters and similar demanding uses, this tie rod hydraulic cylinder has a maximum operating pressure of 2500 PSI. The 1045 cast steel clevises and 65-45-12 ductile iron cast head are designed for durability.
