Description & Features

Designed for rigorous industrial use this tie rod hydraulic cylinder offers a 3.50 inch bore and 1.25 inch rod diameter. Its 8.00 inch stroke and 18.25 inch pin-to-pin retracted length provide ample versatility for various applications.

Constructed with 1045 cast steel clevises and a heavy-duty ductile iron piston its durability is ensured. The cylinder is further strengthened with robust Grade 8 hardware.

Fitted with 1/2 NPT ports it integrates seamlessly with standard hydraulic setups. With a 2500 PSI maximum operating pressure reliable performance under high-pressure conditions is guaranteed.

Special snap-in type wiper seals and molded ribs prevent external contamination and moisture ingress enhancing longevity through its chrome-plated rods that comply with ASTM B117-02 salt spray test standards.

This dual-purpose cylinder includes double-acting piston seals single-acting capabilities and a double lip U-cup rod seal guaranteeing reliable operation.

Each unit undergoes rigorous static and dynamic pressure tests to ensure it meets high standards. Its extended and retracted lengths are 26.25 inches and 18.25 inches respectively optimizing its functional range.

Can this handle a sideways load, or does it need to be perfectly aligned?

Column load data for this tie rod cylinder is based on a pin-to-pin mounting calculation, and long stroke cylinders such as this one have lower full extension ratings to prevent shaft buckling. It's best used in direct, in-line applications.

Rod diameter on this one is 1.25 inches, that gonna hold up running at full 2500 PSI, or is there a load ceiling I ought to be keeping in mind?

At full 2500 PSI operating pressure, the rated load on this cylinder comes out to 24,000 pounds. That said, long stroke cylinders do carry a lower full extension rating to guard against column loading, which is basically the shaft buckling under compressive force. The pin-to-pin mounting calculation factors into that, so if you're pushing heavy loads at or near full extension, build in a minimum safety factor of 2 on whatever you're pushing. That's the manufacturer's own recommendation baked into the design spec.
