Description & Features

Constructed by Hydrolico International this custom 4 x 36 cylinder is designed for heavy-duty applications. Featuring a 4-inch bore and a 2-inch rod diameter it provides a robust 36-inch stroke. The cylinder is built to endure with a maximum operating pressure of 2500 PSI and rated for 1750 PSI pressure. Double-acting with single-acting capabilities it includes double ported base caps for added versatility. Ductile iron components including the head and piston ensure durability. Induction hardened chrome-plated rods enhance longevity while molded ribs on the double lip U-cup seal prevent pressure trapping. Special snap-in type wiper seals help avert contamination and moisture ingress. The components construction includes 1045 cast steel clevises and heavy-duty Grade 8 piston nuts torqued to specification. Note: Long stroke cylinders like this model have lower full extension ratings to prevent excessive column loading. Got a 36-inch stroke on this thing, does that affect how hard it can push at full extension?

Long stroke cylinders like this one do carry a lower full extension rating compared to what the bore size alone might suggest. The concern is column loading, basically the rod buckling under compressive force when it's stretched out. Hydrolico recommends a minimum safety factor of 2 on pushing loads, and the column load data is calculated pin-to-pin. So if you're running this near full extension under heavy push loads, you'll want to stay well within that rated limit and not just plan around the 22,200 lb rated load figure without accounting for stroke position.
