NPTF is a dry-seal tapered thread, so it cuts its own seal on assembly and mates directly with other NPTF fittings without needing a separate sealing element. Standard NPT fittings will also thread in, though NPTF-to-NPT pairings rely more on thread engagement than a true pressure seal. At 3000 psi working pressure, using matched NPTF fittings on both sides is the cleaner approach.
