fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose, does it matter which one I use, or are they interchangeable for this application?

Both hoses are compatible with this fitting, but they aren't the same. H277 and H435 are listed for use where shock hazards are present, so the choice between them usually comes down to your specific system requirements and what pressure range you're working within. Will this fitting hold up okay in a hydraulic system for a log splitter I'm building?

got a -04 hose here, will this straight crimp end work with it or am i chasing the wrong part

For hose fit, it matches a -04 hose size and it’s meant to be crimped onto H277 or H435 hose. The hose side is the line hose tube end, and the other end is a 1/4-18 female NPTF swivel.
