PERMCO VP SOLENIOD For Refuse Pump System

Description & Features

The Permco VP Solenoid is a vital component for refuse pump systems, designed to enhance hydraulic efficiency and reduce system strain. Featuring a pressure-compensated flow control, this solenoid ensures that excess flow is redirected back to the tank at low pressure, mitigating the risk of overspeeding and overpressurizing. This not only minimizes potential repairs but also significantly reduces downtime.

Engineered with a tamper-resistant flow regulation feature, the Permco VP Solenoid is easy to operate, either through a dash-mounted electric over air switch or a manual air valve. Its robust construction includes a sealed outboard bearing with a protective shield to prevent contamination, along with longer idler gear bearings to limit shaft deflection, thereby extending the product's service life.

Ideal for use in dry valve systems, the Permco VP Solenoid is equipped with a built-in bleed valve to prevent heat build-up during idle periods, ensuring optimal performance and durability in demanding industrial environments.

Got a refuse truck runnin a dry valve setup and tryin to figure out how the flow control side of this thing actually works. Does it just dump everything back to tank or what?
Answer by: Customer Support on May 13, 2025, 6:00 AM
When the system isn't actively being used, excess flow gets redirected back to the tank at low pressure rather than building up in the hydraulic circuit. The Versa-Pak valve acts as a pressure-compensated flow control, meaning it lets a preset amount of flow through to the hydraulic system and sends the rest back at low pressure. That's what keeps the pump from overspeeding and overpressurizing, which is where a lot of the wear and repair costs come from on these trucks. The built-in bleed valve handles heat buildup during idle periods, so you're not cooking the fluid when the system's just sitting there.

got a versa-pak refuse pump setup, what’s this vp solenoid actually doing for me
Answer by: Customer Support on Jul 30, 2025, 5:48 PM
In a Versa-Pak refuse pump system, the VP solenoid is there to help manage flow and protect the hydraulic circuit. It acts as a pressure-compensated flow control so a preset amount of flow goes to the system and extra flow is sent back to tank at low pressure. That helps cut down on overspeeding and overpressurizing, which in turn can reduce repairs and downtime.
Question by: Jean P on Oct 28, 2025, 6:16 AM
Will this Permco solenoid work on any old refuse pump system or does it need to be a specific model?
Answer by: Customer Support on Oct 29, 2025, 5:36 PM
This solenoid is really designed to improve how well your hydraulic system works, especially on refuse trucks. It's made to keep the system from overdoing it, which can save you from having to do repairs all the time.
